Who Has Time to Reapply Lipstick?!

Happy National Lipstick Day! Who doesn’t love a good lipstick? But have you been to a makeup store lately, there are tons of lipsticks available and most are not that great.

Lipstick 101

My 2 requirements for a new lipstick are 1) it must be a color I don’t already own and 2) it has to last all day. I work 12+ hours a day and I certainly don’t have time to stop and reapply makeup, nor do I want to. Most lipsticks barely last a few hours and they certainly don’t make it through my morning cup of coffee. I always wondered who were these women that were capable of always having a lipstick on hand and were able to stop and reapply every few hours. I put on lipstick and expect it to last at least 8+ hours. How hard could that be? Well apparently it is, because 95% of my lip products are only used when I go out for a few hours.

I set out to find a lipstick that lasted all day. Have you ever noticed how most of those long-acting formulas suck the life out of your lips? I mean they really dry my lips out until they are shriveled raisins. I finally found two that last all day and don’t completely kill my lips!

My Favorites

National Lipstick Day
Dark one is Rose Garnet, Light one is Cristal Rose

The first is Chanel Rouge Double Intensite Ultra Wear Lip Colour. I have several of these and I always wait for new color releases. One side is the color and the other side is a clear gloss. If you just use the color side you will get a matte finish but it does dry out the lips a little. Once you place the color, wait a few minutes and then use the gloss. This gets rid of that dry feeling. The color lasts almost 9 hours for me, the gloss needs to be reapplied. I usually let it go matte as the day goes on and occasionally use some clear chapstick if my lips feel dry. This color will not budge though, even through breakfast and lunch!

The second one I use is Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain. This does not last as long as

Rio Rush 020

Chanel but it does the trick for those nights I don’t want to carry my lipstick around. I say 4 hours tops. It usually lasts through food but not as intense a color after.
